The whole day wasn’t taking place in Saint Tropez, but rather on the beach along the coast, in the region of Ramatuelle. It’s a small commune in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France, with its capital (Ramatuelle town) overlooking wine valleys and Saint Trop itself. It’s those sandy beaches you’re thinking of when talking about Saint Trop or south of France in general, as the town itself has only one small, rocky beach to its name.
